Brooke Josephson Confirms Divorce With Barry Josephson After Her Husband Surfaces in Newly Released Epstein Records

Singer and actress Brooke Josephson says her marriage to veteran producer Barry Josephson is ending after newly unsealed records drew fresh attention to his past relationship with Jeffrey Epstein.

In a typewritten statement shared to Instagram over the weekend, Brooke addressed the growing headlines directly, saying she felt compelled to speak after what she called “recent events in the news this week.”

“Barry Josephson and I are going through a divorce,” she wrote. “I was not aware of Barry’s relationship with Jeffrey Epstein during our entire marriage. I respectfully request privacy and prayers for our children and I during this time. Thank you to all who have shown compassion and respect.”

While the public statement is new, court documents show the legal process began earlier. Filings indicate Barry Josephson submitted for divorce in December 2024.

The timing of Brooke’s message, however, reflects how dramatically the situation shifted once previously private communications became public.

Why Josephson’s Name is Back in the Spotlight?

A recent release of materials connected to federal investigations into Epstein has prompted renewed scrutiny of prominent figures across politics, business, and entertainment. Among the items attracting attention were email exchanges between Epstein and Josephson that continued well after Epstein’s 2008 guilty plea on charges involving a minor.

According to reports from several trade and news outlets, the messages spanned the early 2010s and covered topics ranging from social plans to the film and television business.

Financial ties were also documented. Josephson borrowed more than $330,000 from Epstein in two installments in 2011 and again in 2013  to resolve tax bills. The loans were later repaid, with Josephson thanking Epstein at the time for his help and friendship.

Other emails have circulated widely online because of their language. In one, Josephson described a woman to Epstein in explicitly sexual terms while discussing whether she might be suitable for work as an assistant. In separate exchanges, Epstein asked whether Josephson could help certain women obtain acting roles. Josephson indicated he could not guarantee such outcomes.

The documents further note that Epstein visited sets tied to Josephson’s productions twice.

Barry Josephson’s Response

After the communications became public, Josephson issued statements to the press expressing remorse for his behavior and for maintaining contact with Epstein.

“There’s no excuse for what I said in some of my emails,” he said. “The language was crude and juvenile, and I’m ashamed.”

Josephson said he did attend social events with Epstein and confirmed the set visits, but pushed back on broader implications, saying he never flew on Epstein’s plane, never went to his island, and never witnessed Epstein with minors.

“In my 47 years working in the entertainment industry, I’ve encountered thousands of people,” he added. “My biggest regret, bar none, is that I foolishly believed his denials of wrongdoing. I was impressed by his circle of acquaintances from varied industries, and it blinded me. I apologize to all who were hurt by this clearly terrible and depraved individual.”

The Personal Toll

For Brooke Josephson, the disclosures represent not just a reputational crisis playing out in public, but a deeply personal rupture.

Her Instagram message emphasized that she had no knowledge of any connection between her husband and Epstein during their 17-year marriage. Friends and fans responded in the comments with messages of support, many echoing her request for privacy.

Brooke has spent much of her career balancing music with acting, appearing in

films such as Enchanted, Life As We Know It, and Someone Marry Barry. Despite her proximity to Hollywood through her husband’s producing career, which has included a long tenure on the FOX procedural Bones as well as numerous studio projects, she has typically kept family matters away from public view.

That reserve made the bluntness of her announcement stand out. There was no ambiguity, only confirmation and a plea for space.

A Widening Ripple Effect

The renewed attention on Epstein’s network has continued to reverberate years after his death, with each tranche of documents sparking difficult conversations about association, access, and responsibility. For some figures, the fallout has been professional. For others, it has become intensely personal.

In Brooke Josephson’s case, it has now become both. Her statement did not address what comes next legally or financially, but its intention was clear: to separate her path from a controversy she says she never saw coming.
