Cross is paired with FBI agent Kayla Craig and directed to protect billionaire Lance Durand after he receives a grisly threat. But as evidence piles up, the investigation begins to ask an uncomfortable question: Is Durand simply rich and unlucky, or is he connected to the horrors being exposed?
For Cross, who believes in the system even when it disappoints him, the answer matters.

As if the manhunt weren’t enough, John Sampson gets hit with a personal earthquake.

The timing couldn’t be worse. The task force needs him to be clear-headed. Instead, he’s spiraling.
